
William “Bill” Booher, 86, of Fremont, passed away on February 28, 2026, at Bethesda Care Center in Fremont. He was born on September 3, 1939, in Newark, Ohio, to Frank and Mabel M. (Mickey) Booher. Bill was a graduate of Newark High School and studied at Terra Tech.
Bill proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Basilone from 1956 until 1960, where he earned the Good Conduct Medal for his dedication and commitment to duty. After receiving his honorable discharge, he brought his passion for wildlife and the great outdoors to his role as a game warden for the Ohio Division of Wildlife, where he served for 26 years. His love for nature and wildlife was apparent, and he earned respect and admiration for his work. Following his time with the Wildlife Division, Bill dedicated another 25 years to serving veterans through his role at the Sandusky County VA, where he continued to advocate for those who served our country. Bill was also a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, further showcasing his commitment to serving his community and his dedication to his faith.
In 1970, Bill married Barbara Mehling in Bucyrus, Ohio, and they celebrated 56 years of marriage before his passing.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Booher of Fremont; children, Christopher (Carrie) Booher of Fremont, Michael (Susan) Booher of Columbus, Susan (Davis) Thompson of Maumee; grandchild, Collin Booher.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Charles Booher, Roland Booher, and Sharon Warwick.
Per his wishes, there will be no services at this time.
