James R. Duggan, 67, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay, Ohio, at Blanchard Valley Hospital. Jim was born August 2, 1956, in Dennison, Ohio to Roger and Maryon (Craig) Duggan. He married Nancy Powell in 1994, and she survives.
Jim graduated from Claymont High School, Uhrichsville, in 1974. He attended Kent State University, graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice. While attending college, he put himself through school working at the Muskingum Water Conservation District (MWCD) and southeastern Ohio radio stations. Upon graduation, he worked for the State of Ohio Liquor Commission in Cleveland, leaving then for a career with ODNR, Division of Wildlife, as a wildlife officer in Harrison County, then being promoted to wildlife investigation in northwest Ohio, where he worked on pollution, hunter incidents, and non-game cases. Jim also worked at various radio stations, and produced two outdoor-related programs – Outdoor Rundown, airing on many radio stations throughout the state, and Outdoors in the Valley for WJER in Dover, Ohio.
Jim loved being on the water in his boat, always had a beautiful vegetable garden, and loved his English springer spaniel, Mandy, and cats Metzger, Callie and Ann, who are all together again. He was also a member of the Maumee Elks.
Private burial will take place at a later date. COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky St., Findlay, OH, 45840, have been entrusted with Jim’s care. Online condolences may be shared with his family at coldrencrates.com.
