Dean W Scott

Dean William, 73, and Rosemary Ann (Manuszak), 74, Scott of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away unexpectedly after a car accident on Monday, February 22, 2021 in Fort Myers, Florida.

Dean was born in Millbury, Ohio on May 9, 1947 to Howard and Alice Scott. Dean served honorably in the United States Army, Company A, 1st Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division from September 21, 1966 to September 20, 1968. He was a wounded, decorated war veteran that served during the Vietnam War. Dean earned several medals, including a Silver Star, 2 Purple Hearts with 1 bronze oak leaf cluster, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star, Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with Device Expert Badge with Rifle Bar.

Dean was a member of Masonic Phoenix Lodge #123 Perrysburg, Ohio, American Legion Post #320 Maumee, Ohio and Post #336 N. Fort Myers, Florida, Fraternal Order of Eagles Post #2562 Maumee, Ohio, Elks Lodge #1850 Maumee, Ohio, Moose Lodge #1579 Sylvania, Ohio and Lodge #1297 Fort Myers, Florida, AMVETS Post #222 Toledo, Ohio, VFW Post #1148 Bowling Green, Ohio, Post #10127 N. Fort Myers, Florida and Post #3623 Cheboygan, Michigan. He was a member of the Ohio Game Protectors Association, NRA, Fraternal Order of Police, and a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

Dean started his career as a game warden working for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. After numerous years as serving as a game warden, Dean became Wildlife District 2 Manager of ODNR. He was a sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and gunsmithing. Dean was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan. He also enjoyed travel, scuba diving and gambling.

Rosemary was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 2, 1946 to Aloysius “Al” and Harriet Manuszak. She was raised Catholic and let her faith guide her to be a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Rosemary was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #320 Maumee, Ohio, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary Post #2562 Maumee, Ohio and Women of the Moose Lodge Chapter 562.

Rosemary started her career with the Teamsters. Then ended her career with numerous years of dedication to the banking industry. Rosemary was proud of her Polish decent and was an excellent cook. She also enjoyed travel, scuba diving, gambling, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Rosemary’s caring disposition for people and animals shined through her entire life.

Dean and Rosemary married on July 11, 1970. They spent 50 years making so many wonderful memories. They worked hard for their family and retirement. They enjoyed their summers in Perrysburg and Up North and their winters in Florida.

In the end, their grandchildren were their everything. They loved all 3 grandkids and were so proud of each of them. They also cherished their fur babies throughout the years and their grand fur babies.

The family would like to thank the Lee County Florida Sheriff’s Department, Florida State Highway Patrol, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Fort Myers, Florida Fire Department Station 81, all rescue units, the compassionate staff at Alley Cat Towing in Leigh Acres, Florida, everyone at the Moose Lodge #1297 Fort Myers, Florida and to all who stopped to help or just prayed, we appreciate all of you. Dean and Rosemary are survived by their daughters, Kristin Persiani and Julie Baggett; grandchildren, Dominik and Adriana Persiani and Jessica Baggett; Dean’s brother, Bernard “Bernie” (Bernadette “Bunny”) Scott; niece, Deanna Szydlowski; great-niece, Erica Van Hooser; great-nephew, Tyler Scott: Dean’s sister, Mindy (Steve) Schuster; nephew, Scott Dauer. They are preceded in death by their parents; nephew, Troy Scott; and great-nephew, Canen Smith.

Dean and Rosemary will be laid to rest, together, at Arlington National Cemetery.

A Catholic Mass will be held on March 26, 2021 at 10:30 a.m., Saint John XXIII Church, 24250 N. Dixie Hwy, Perrysburg, Ohio.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the American Legion Post #320 Maumee, Ohio on March 28, 2021 from 12 p.m.-4 p.m.
