Joachim (John) V. Golz

Joachim (John) V. Golz died January 21, 2020.  Known to friends as “John” he most like hearing the voices of his children and Grand Joys calling “Daddy” and “Ohpoh.”  He carried his two generations of Joys outside to feel tree leaves and bark, experience grass underfoot, gather dandelions, feed song birds, splash, hammer, paint, dig, or hear the “sploosh” of rocks in a stream.  John enjoyed sharing the wonders of the world with those he loved.

John was born in Lodz, Poland on June 17, 1939.  Events of WWII forced his family to leave Poland for Germany where they remained until immigrating to Akron, OH in 1957.  John enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served from 1959-1963.  He earned his B.S. from Ohio State University, and retired in 2001 from the Ohio Division of Wildlife where he worked for more than 30-years as a fisheries biologist.

Already missing his twinkling eyes, teasing ways, funny faces, antics, fierce protection, and comforting touch are John’s wife of 44 years, Ginger; daughter Heike (Matthew) Aster; son Michael (Ashley) Golz; brother Reinhard (Patricia) Golz, brother-in-law John Sahayda (husband of deceased sister Christianne), cousins, nieces, and nephews.  The lights of John’s heart, Grand Joys Sean, Maddox and Raegan were sprinkled by stardust to experience the love of their Ohpoh.

Heaven loaned us John to show everyone he encountered that integrity is possible, respect is earned and love is forever.  Peace.  Hope.  Trust.

The family will receive friends at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2020, in the chapel at The Bath United Church of Christ, 3980 W Bath Rd, Akron, OH 44333.  A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Medina County, 5075 Windfall Road, Medina, OH 44256 https://donate.hospicewr.org/give/209048/#!/donation/checkoutREAD LESS
