Arlene (Cole) Stadler

BRADENTON, Fla. — Arlene J. (Cole) Stadler went home to be with the Lord on December 23, 2001, at Blake Hospital in Bradenton, Fla., after many years of illness. She was 86.

She had been living in Bradenton, Fla. since 1985 after moving from Akron, Ohio. She was born in Pennsylvania on June 28, 1915. She retired from the Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife in Portage Lakes, with the position of head secretary for 19 years in the North Eastern counties of Ohio. She was a charter member of the Portage Lakes Historical Society. She helped to organize the chapter of AARP for Portage Lakes and she was an active member of Lockwood Methodist Church in Akron and Trinity Methodist Church in Bradenton. She worked for the Red Cross Blood Mobile in various factories in Akron. In Bradenton, she worked as a volunteer in the Oncology Dept. at Blake Hospital.

She was preceded in death by Ralph Stadler and Burton R. Cole. She is survived by daughter, Carol (Cole) Murphy of Bradenton; son, Edmund Cole (Linda) of Blairsville, Ga.; sister, Hazel Terrel of Upper Montclair, N.J.; brother, Robert Budd of West Seneca, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Kimberly Dennis of Akron, Carrie (Cole) Kubick of Cuyahoga Falls, and David Cole of Valrico, Fla.; three great-grandchildren Levi, Dylan, and Trinity of Akron; three stepchildren, Dorrie Marsh of Olympia, Wash., John Stadler of Joplin, Mo., and George Stadler of Brownsburg, Ind.; 14 step-grandchildren; 33 step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; two nieces, Sharon McAlister of Upper Montclair, N.J. and Linda Budd of West Seneca, N.Y.; one nephew, Robert Budd of West Seneca, N.Y.; four sisters-in-law, Katherine Huth of Florida, Myrtle Garret of Mass., Marie Knapp of Pennsylvania, and Doris Coursin of Texas; and several other family members and friends of whom all are loved.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2002, at Greenlawn Memorial Park in the Chapel, 2580 Romig Rd., Akron. Griffith & Cline are in charge of local arrangements along with the National Cremation Society. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to the American Red Cross, 2905 59th St., W. Arlene Cole was the District 3 Secretary during the administration of Fred Abraham and Max Duckworth. She retired from District Three and came back periodically to help out when the District was in a bind. Arlene moved to Florida some years back and still kept in touch with a few of the employees. Arlene was living with her daughter in Florida when she passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2001 at the age of 86.
