Mahlon ‘Mel’ Boone passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2003 after a brief illness. Mel worked for Division of Wildlife, District Three for 30 years. He was the first Area Manager at Mosquito Creek Wildlife Area and retired from that position in 1988. Mel moved to Weaverville, North Carolina after retirement.
Funeral arrangements have been made at the WEST FUNERAL HOME, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville, NC. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2003. Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 24, 2003 at the West Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 a.m.
