Charles A.”Chuck” Shealy, age 95, of Mount Gilead, died Friday afternoon, April 11, 2014.

He was born in Upper Sandusky, Ohio on October 14, 1918, the son of the late Walter A. and Grace E. (Smith) Shealy.

On April 24, 1948, Charles married the late Roberta J. (Morris) Shealy. Together they shared 56 years of marriage.

Chuck had a passion for the outdoors. His interests included hunting, fishing, and taxidermy. He served as a game warden for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife. Many of his years as the game warden were spent in Morrow County; however, he also worked in the surrounding counties.

A veteran of the United States Army, Chuck served our nation during World War II. He attended Edison United Methodist Church with his late wife.

Chuck will be missed by his daughter Claudia A. Shealy of Athens, OH.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta; parents: Walter and Grace; sister and brother-in law: Susan and Frederick McGovern.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Oak Hill Cemetery, 13623 County Highway 119, Upper Sandusky, OH 43351, with Celebrant Don Lockwood officiating.

Rather than flowers, the family suggests memorial contribution be made in his memory to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife, Marion County Veterans Services, or to the Friends of Mount Gilead State Park, and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
