Delmar E. Handley, age 88, of Delaware, died Sunday, March 14, 2010Delmar E. Handley, 88, of Delaware passed away Sunday at Grady Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born March 13, 1922 in Newark, Ohio to Gilbert and Vida (Rinehart) Handley.

Delmar served in the Army during World War II, and participated in battles in the Rhineland, Northern France, he earned decorations and citations of the American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with two bronze stars, and WWII Victory Medal. He returned home to work in State of Ohio Department of Natural Resources (O.D.N.R.) retiring as Assistant Deputy Director. Delmar enjoyed fishing, wildlife, and being outdoors. He spent many retirement years in Florida and returned home to be near his family.

He is survived by his: wife of 62 years Dorothy (May), a son; Robert “Bob” and his wife Kathy of Ostrander, a daughter; Pat Coulter of Columbus, grandchildren; Alyssa Coulter, and Cora Handley. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

The Handley family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Rodman Neeper Funeral Home and Crematory to direct arrangements.
