Edgar C. Harrison, age 83 of Columbus, formerly of Delaware, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
He was born September 22, 1925 in Gallipolis, OH to Frank and Clara (Irwin) Harrison. He lived most of his life in Delaware County and was a member of The Believers Assembly. He was a retired district manager for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife, member and past master of the Hiram Masonic Lodge #18 F.&A.M., 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, and the former Delaware Elks Lodge #76. He was an office holder in PERS and was active with the Council for Older Adults, and initiated providing free tax preparation for senior citizens, and for this, was honored in 1999 as the Delaware County Senior Citizen of the Year.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy; daughters Shirley (Al) McCormick and Linda (Woody) King; sons Roger (Barbara) and Roland “Bus”; four grandchildren Kevin (Jennifer) and Ryan McCormick, Adam and Matthew Harrison; sisters Frances (George) Sheets and Emogene (Bill) Mangold; brothers Pete (Ruth) and Bill (Sandra) Harrison. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Friends will be received at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William St., Delaware on Tuesday, Dec. 16th from 4;00 – 7:00 PM with Masonic Services by the Hiram Masonic Lodge Brothers at 7:00.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the funeral home, with his nephew Pastor Monte Shawn Sheets officiating. All are invited to retire to the Rodman Neeper Social Hall after the funeral.
