Edward R. “Eddie” Moots, 70, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006 at his residence.
He was born Oct. 14, 1935 in Washington Court House, the son of the late Harold G. and Hazel Alice (Lemons) Moots.
Mr. Moots had retired after 38 years of service as the wildlife conservation officer for Highland County and was presently employed as the game management advisor for Bagshaw Enterprises. He was a member of Sinking Spring Masonic Lodge #365 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, Duck’s Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation and National Rifle Association, and was presently serving on the board of directors of the Highland County Water Company Inc.
He is survived by his wife, Nell (Rehm) Moots, whom he married Dec. 4, 1954 in Washington C.H.; six children, Stephen Moots and his wife Brenda of Baton Rouge, La., Jeannette Sluss and her husband James of Newton, Texas, Sheryl Bach and her husband Jerry of Louisa, Va., Jacqueline Fenner and her husband Scott of Hillsboro, Robert Moots and his friend Dee of Hillsboro and Jon Moots and his wife Angela of Hillsboro; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and very special family friends, the Bagshaw families, Ann Landrum and Gene “Pete” and Jan Morrow of Hillsboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Moots.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Neal Cook will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Friends may call from 205 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13 at the funeral home, where Masonic services and Scottish Rite ring services will be conducted at 5 p.m.
