Ray H. Riethmiller, age 97, passed away at Pickaway Manor in Circleville Ohio on September 6, 2017. Ray was born on March 8, 1920 to Harold and Myrtle Riethmiller and lived his young life in Martin’s Ferry, OH before moving to Columbus, OH.
Ray was a World War II Veteran, worked for the State of Ohio, Division of Wildlife for his entire career, stocking many of the Ohio lakes with fish. Ray had been Fish Management Superviser for Wildlife District 1 and the old District 5 as well as Assistant Manager of all Ohio Fisheries. He was an avid fisherman and took many fishing charters at Lake Erie with his beloved family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Carol McCarty Riethmiller; his mother and Father, Myrtle and Harold H. Riethmiller, his brothers, Robert, Wayne, and his twin brother Roy. He is survived by his daughters, Judith Hoffhien (Eric Hoffhien); Diane Bell (Bruce Bell) and Linda Jeffries (Bill McKnight). His surviving grandchildren include: JoAnn and Gary Manino; Julie and Lonnie Hall; Joe and Susanna Bell; Jason Bell and Brienne Vanover, Angela and David Lamb and Beth & Kyle Cumming. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Makayla, Erik, Kevin Manino; Kimberly, Kristen, Kelson Hall; Xander, Adelynn Bell; Braxton Bell, Blake Vanover, Rachel Lamb, Kaitlin Jeffries, Cienna, Maci and Juliet Cumming.
Funeral arrangements will be at Wellman Funeral Home, 1455 North CourtStreet, Circleville, OH with visitation on Friday, 9/15 from 6:00-8:00 and the funeral on Saturday, 9/16 at 2 PM also at Wellman’s. Interment is immediately following at Forest Cemetery where Ray will be buried alongside his wife, Carol. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Heartland Hospice.
