Richard L. Jasper passed away June 14, 2015.

He was the first of his extended family that grew to include 4 siblings and 29 cousins. Born in Toledo, Ohio to Norman and Mary Jasper on November 29, 1944, educated at St. Catherine’s Elementary and Central High School, he was a member of the 1962 State Champion football team. He was later honored with induction into the Central High hall of fame. He served in Special Forces as a Green Beret sergeant and served two terms in Vietnam. He married Marlene Solz on January 29, 1970. He graduated from LSU and worked in forestry and wildlife management, fulfilling his love of animals and nature. He was involved in preventing extinction of the Peregrine falcon and was proud of the success of this program. Rick not only served his country with honor, he served the state of Ohio for over 35 years with the DNR. The only thing he loved more than animals was babies and had much joy with his and his grandchildren.

Rick is survived by Marlene; their children, Scott (Jamie), Ann (Brian) Quinter, Sean, Brian and Jennifer; 7 grandchildren; siblings, Donald (Jenny), Robert (Marianne), Cherie (Jay) Reed, Jill (Kent) Fowler; 4 nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in Green Springs, Ohio. The family appreciates tributes to either Wounded Warriors or the National Wildlife Federation.
