George Robert “Bob” Strohm, 81, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, died peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, November 17, 2008 at Regency Hospital.He was born in Pickerington, Ohio, December 30, 1926. Preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Betty Strohm. They moved to Reynoldsburg in 1957. He Graduated from Lancaster High School. Served in the United States Navy WWII, as a corpsman. Graduated from The Ohio State University in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science in food, agricultural and environmental sciences. Was employed by the Department of Natural Resources as a game protector and retired as assistant to the chief of the Division of Wildlife for the State of Ohio after 33 years.
Bob wrote for the Ohio Fisherman Magazine, and created the Gun Safety Program for the state of Ohio in 1958. He was a member of the Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church, and also served on the Reynoldsburg Recreation Committee. His many passions included fishing, hunting, golf, photography, and gardening. He enjoyed socializing with his many friends at Robey’s. He was truly respected and loved by his family and friends. He had a knack for telling stories, people enjoyed his company and sense of humor. He is survived by his children, Brian (Julie) of Reynoldsburg, Susan (Peter) Bailey of Seattle, Tracee (Dick) Steele of Reynoldsburg, and Bradley (Etoia) of Orient; grandchildren, Reece, Trevor, Cameron, Lukas, Elan, Sarah, and Mason. The family will have visitation at COTNER FUNERAL HOME, 7369 E. Main St., Reynoldsburg, Thursday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4-7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at The Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church 1636 Graham Rd., Reynoldsburg, at 10 a.m. on Friday.
